Festivals in the early 1900s

Holidays and feasts have always been a good opportunity to publish special postcards to keep as a souvenir or send to friends to share the special event. There used to be a real competition between the numerous local publishers. 

Most of the time a festival can be followed step by step in every single corner of the city. The postcards are really interesting nowadays as it is among the few printed documents describing the event. 

It is also possible to find photographs showing the same subject and it is mentioned postcard on the back of the picture. These documents were usually processed in very few quantity, however, postcard collectors would usually prefer printed cards.

The Feast for the Coronation of Notre Dame de Grâce (June 1913)

Among all feast organized before the firs world war, the one in 1913 remains the most well known for its postcards. Around 50 different postcards were published to commemorate this event.

These postcards show the decoration of the streets and it  is possible to follow the procession in the city.
